Attendance sheets are due next week by Friday, March 15th at 12:00. The attendance sheet is the green sheet on which students circle the subject area in which they completed work for the day. Each attendance sheet is worth about $700 for HomeTech. Unfortunately, we did not receive many green sheets last month, and our attendance report to the state is due in April. Your help with this is much appreciated. I also want to ask families to help us update their information in Aeries. I want to remind your family about HomeTech's late work policy. Late work is accepted in all classes until the end of each grading period for at least partial credit. After the grading period ends, work will not be accepted. For example, the first grading period this semester ends this Friday, February 22nd at 3:00 P.M. Students are able to turn in late work for January and February until this time. After Friday, February 22nd at 3:00, students will not be able to submit any late work and a new grading period will begin. Our staff at HomeTech has been listening to our families, and most of our families are saying they would appreciate flexibility in our scheduling and fewer days required at school. To accommodate those requests, we have developed a new master schedule for the second semester of this school year, and we will continue to offer an independent study option for all of our classes. I have posted our new master schedule on our website. Choose the menu option and click on the parent/student resources button. There also is a link to the schedule in our live feed section at the bottom of our homepage. The new schedule will begin Monday, January 14th. Happy New Year HomeTech Families. This is Mr. Ervin calling with a few reminders. I hope you have enjoyed your winter break, and we are looking forward to seeing you again. We have all been through some very difficult times so being back to together with our HomeTech families and friends will bring some normalcy back to our lives. Guy Fieri is sponsoring food and fun for HomeTech Charter. THURSDAY, December 13 from 10-11:30 and 11:30-1pm We have reserved Cal Skate and Terrain Climbing Wall, and we are working on lunch to be provided at the Boys & Girls Club at 601 Wall Street from 1-2:30pm. I want to remind your family that the fall semester will end on Wednesday, December 19th. Teachers will be holding student/parent conferences from Friday, December 14th through Wednesday, December 19th. During this conference, you will complete all paperwork to end this semester and develop a class schedule for next semester. All secondary classes (grades 7-12) will be cancelled during this time. If you have not scheduled your appointment with your student’s homeroom teacher for next week, please email our office at dreinolds@hometech.org, and we will help you. We understand if you are unable to physically be at a meeting. Most of our families, students, and staff members have been displaced. We will be flexible and adjust as needed. I also want to let you know that there are free activities planned for our students on Thursday, December 13th and Tuesday, December 18th. Location: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 2430 Mariposa Ave. (Corner of Mariposa Ave. and East Ave.) Chico, CA 95926 Times: For all Camp Fire affected students, Kindergarten thru 8th grades. Thursday, December 20th Noon-8 p.m. Friday, December 21st Noon-4 p.m. Proof the student was affected by the Camp Fire evacuation will be REQUIRED. (See below) This requirement will be strictly enforced. Friday, December 21st 4 p.m.-8 p.m. All Butte County students Kindergarten thru 8th grade who do not fall in the above category but are in need of assistance from the CHiP’s For Kids toy drive. Examples for proof of residency: -FEMA application with the student’s name on it. -Parent’s driver’s license with the affected address. -Parent’s Vehicle Registration with the affected address. -Note from the child’s school teacher stating the child is or was enrolled in a school affected by the Camp Fire evacuation. Note: Rosters from the schools in the evacuation zone have been obtained by the CHP. This list will be used to verify the students affected and can also be used in cases no other proof can be provided.

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians, In order to try to streamline the last couple of weeks of school for students completing all or part of the semester online, your teachers will be uploading your assignments to Google Classroom. All teachers will be posting all their assignments to the class named: HomeTech Independent Study. The class code is bypc3p Students will need to go to the assignment for each of their courses (except electives) and open the link to see the assignment. Assignments do not need to be printed--students may complete their assignment on a separate document (either hard copy/digital/google document) and email it back to his/her advisory teacher. I am excited to tell you that we are planning to open HomeTech to our students and families on Monday, December 3rd. We will be following our regular class schedule for secondary students (grades 7 - 12) for the week of December 3rd. For example, our juniors will have their advisory and block classes (English, history, and science) on Monday. We will also will have our algebra 1 and algebra 1A classes at the normal time. Our 8th grade students will have their regular math class, and elementary students will be contacted by their teachers. If it becomes clear that we are not able to run our regular schedule, we will modify the schedule to fit your family’s needs. You will be getting a phone call from your teacher within the next day or two. Please share how we can help your family transition back to school. We will be housed in Living Hope Fellowship Church at 355 Panama Ave. in Chico. We look forward to seeing soon. Thank you.

I hope this message finds your family in a comfortable, safe place. This had been a difficult time for all of us. I am working very closely with all other Paradise Charter leaders along with help from other leaders from Butte County Office of Education and California Charter School Association to create a plan for our families to begin school again on December 3rd. Our School is still standing in Paradise, but we do not know how long it will be until we can start school there again. We will create a temporary site for the short-term, and we are looking for more permanent site options for our school. I am thinking we will be based somewhere in Chico. HomeTech’s staff has been calling our students to check on our families and share news as we get it. I also will be posting information on our website and on our Facebook page. These students will take their hearing test at HomeTech Charter School at 9:00 A.M. in Room 5. Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 8th grade students will take California’s required vision tests on Thursday, October 11th, at 10:30 in Room 6.
