HomeTech is happy to announce the return of our very own, Julie Van Roekel to our elementary program. Julie is also very excited to return to HomeTech! She is entering her 10th year of teaching, 7 of which have been at HomeTech. "The community of Paradise and the family that is HomeTech's students and staff, will always be a part of me. I am so happy to be back!"
While Julie will be primarily working remotely from her home in Fort Collins, CO, she will be on campus at various times throughout the year, including August for enrollment appointments. She is excited to connect with new and returning families. Welcome back to HomeTech, Julie!

HomeTech is excited to introduce our new teacher, Hailey Cahn. Hailey will be wearing a few different hats at HomeTech this year including Elementary Workshop Teacher, 7th-12th Independent Study Teacher, and middle school math intervention teacher.
Hailey grew up in Paradise, and currently lives in Magalia with her husband and young son. She’s entering her sixth year teaching. Her passions include math, animals, art, and much more. She has experience teaching a variety of grades and subjects in the Charter and Independent Study world. She strongly believes in the benefits of a school like Hometech and is excited for the year to come.
Welcome to HomeTech, Hailey!

HomeTech Charter is pleased to introduce our new math teacher, Maxwell Hinchliff. He was born and raised in Hemet, California which is a small valley town 550 miles south of Paradise. He currently lives in Chico with his long term girlfriend. They both graduated Chico State in Spring 2022.
Maxwell completed both his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics Education and his Single Subject Credential in Mathematics at Chico State. He believes that building relationships is necessary for students to become successful and responsible individuals. His belief about mathematics education can be summed up in this quote:
“Mathematics ability is a function of opportunity, experience, and effort—not of innate intelligence… All students are capable of participating and achieving in mathematics, and all deserve support to achieve at the highest levels.”
Whether it be big or small, his main goal in life is to have an impact on other people’s lives. This particularly holds true when working with students. He guarantees that he will put my best foot forward as an educator and as a role model in order to ensure the success of his students.
Some fun facts about Maxwell are that he loves to spend time with his girlfriend, listening to music, playing video games, or watching anime. Also his favorite food is probably fried chicken or sushi. Welcome to HomeTech, Maxwell!

Congratulations Aidan Gates for being chosen to be HomeTech’s high school Student of the Month! Aidan was nominated by his English teacher, Tina Hamm.
