About HomeTech Middle School

HomeTech Charter School, which includes grades 7 & 8, serves approximately 30 middle school students from Butte County and the surrounding counties.  Our students use the flexibility of independent study to explore a personalized path that best meets their needs.  Students can take coursework through independent study or teacher-guided classes.

HomeTech Charter is accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Academic Programs

HomeTech Charter offers two academic programs that allow staff to serve the specific needs of our students. Both programs offer options for students to personalize their experience.

Home Study Program

Our Home Study program offers an option for students who are looking for a more traditional independent study program.

  • Students complete most work independently at home in the following courses:

    • Math

    • English

    • History

    • Science

    • P.E.

  • Students meet weekly with their teacher to turn in completed work, receive assistance and set personal learning goals.

  • Students primarily work with paper and pencil coursework

  • Students can take up to one teacher guided class at the school

Hybrid Program

Our Hybrid program combines some traditional classroom elements with some of the flexibility that independent study offers. Students can take classes at the school that are led by credentialed teachers. Class schedules are similar to a college schedule where students attend in-person a few days a week and work from home the other days.

  • Students take all core classes at the school

    • Math

    • English

    • History

    • Science

  • Students meet weekly with an advisory teacher during core class time

  • Physical education is done through complete independent study

About Our School Site

At HomeTech Charter we believe that learning can happen in many different places, not just in a school building. However, we do have a recently renovated facility which includes 6 classrooms and teacher offices.

  • Teacher-led classes that meet weekly on a schedule similar to a college. Most classes have 5-15 students.

  • Weekly advisory period for Hybrid Program students to receive important information and connect with their Advisory Teacher.

  • Support available for students with Individualized Educational Plans (IEP)

  • Math support class for students needing additional help

  • Individual tutoring available

  • Teacher offices and classrooms for the regular parent, student, and teacher meetings to discuss student progress.

  • Ceramics and enrichment electives
